A little something for the Lovecraft fans

Post by Malus Black »

One of the most popular comic strips in Norway is the quasi-autobiographical M. It’s autobiographical because it’s about the artist, Mads Eriksen, and his friends, and quasi because they are regularly visited by stormtroopers, riders of Rohan, goldfish ghosts, and, on one occasion, Great Cthulhu himself:

Panel 4
The Madam: “–not a chance! …and I don’t care if it followed you home!”

Panel 1
M: “Fetch!”

Panel 1
M: “Give your… uh… paw.”
M: “Good!”

Panel 2
M: “Roll o–”
M: “What are you…”
M: “Oh no.”

Panel 3
M: “Oh man… this is so incredibly degrading…”
M: “Yuck!”

Panel 4
M: “Waaaait…”
Cat: “Miaow?”
M: “Good!”

Panel 1
The Madam: “Aaah! What the–”

Panel 2
The Madam: “That’s it! Do you know… huh?”
M: “Shush! Shushushush!”

Panel 3
M: “…Cthulhu Fhtagn.”

Panel 4
M: “Hooiiii… stiff rates on phone calls to Yuggoth…”
The Madam: “You’ll have to butcher your piggybank.”
M: “My Skycar-fund?!”

Speech bubble: “Run! Run for your lives!”

Panel 1
Woman: “Hello? You’ve got an animal you want to relocate, yes? …Great and Old, yeah. What race is it? Mix? What kind?”

Panel 2
M: “…if you could picture a vaguely anthropoid cross of a dragon and an octopus… with wings?”
M: “…a little tubby.”

Panel 3
Woman: “Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!”
M: “Hello?”

Panel 4
The Madam: “…weeell, she certainly doesn’t sound entirely healthy.”
M: “It’s probably the appendix.”

Image

Panel 1
M: “…well, ‘Tulu–”

Panel 2
M: “…you can’t stay here anymore, because you’re kinda big, and our pad is a little small, and–”

Panel 3
The Madam: “And he drove old Mrs. Lund insane with terrible dreams of nameless fears and ate her cat.
M: “Haha! Yeah, that was fun!”

Panel 4
M: “Can he borrow our tuner? R’lyeh only has Hallmark and Pohnpei TV?”
The Madam: “For how long?”

Panel 1
M: “And don’t get into trouble!”*

*Sort of. Norway has more than its share of obscure dialects, and I actually had to google for this particular expression. “Don’t get into trouble” is the closest approximation I could find.

Excellent! It's very funny to read :)

That's pretty funny.
I wish Cthulhu was my pet.
