Arijani is the Rakshasa Darklord of [[Sri Raji]]. He is the son of the Rakshasa deity [[Ravana]] and [[Mahiji]].
Although he is a talented illusionist, Arijani cannot disguise himself in a pleasing form, as most rakshasa do. Instead, he can only assume despicable aspects, such as that of the viewer's worst enemy.

Inajira

Inajira is a [[fiend]], an [[arcanaloth]] from [[Gehenna]] in the [[Lower Planes]], [[called]] into the mortal world by [[Count Strahd von Zarovich]]. He is a [[collector]] who deals in [[soul|souls]].

From this fiend, individuals can be granted in this life their heart's desires. In exchange, Inajira is granted [[proprietorship]] in the existence to follow over their immortal souls. Individuals entering into such a [[contract]] sooner or later come to regret it. One does not get the better of Inajira. He is not [[deceived]], rather it is he who [[deceiver|deceives]].

Inajira despises [[Count Strahd von Zarovich]] who has, so far, evaded the enforcement of the [[contract]] that binds them. Additionally, Inajira's ''[[Book of Keeping]]'', where his contracts are signed in [[blood]], was destroyed in a confrontation with the lord of [[Barovia]]. Since Inajira has busied himself with filling the pages of its replacement.

Inajira masquerades as a mortal, being able to maintain a given facade for but a year or two. He dwells invariably in [[Barovia]] or its surrounding [[domains]]. Presently, he passes himself for as a [[magistrate]] and an amateur [[alchemist]] in [[Teufeldorf]] where he occupies an unwelcoming [[manor]] that is furnished principally with with old [[books]] and arcana paraphernalia.

The name of this fiend is sometimes recorded as ''Ijrail'' or ''Inraji''.

Elsepeth

Elsepeth is a [[succubus]] that entered the [[Land of Mists]] via [[transposition]] in the year 729. Since her imprisonment on the demiplane, she has been responsible for the temptation and deaths of many of its denizens.

==Background==

Elsepeth entered the [[Land of Mists]] through the temptation of [[Ammie Weaveron]], a resident of [[Falkovnia]]. Her sister, [[Tasha Weaveron|Tasha]] noted the gradual and [[transposition | evil transformation]] of Ammie, but was helpless to stop it. Once the [[transposition]] was complete, Elsepeth killed Tasha and then staged Ammie's death.

Since her arrival, Elsepeth has been active mostly in the [[domain|domains]] of [[Borca]], [[Falkovnia]] and [[Darkon]], but these are not the only domains she has visited; she has spent at least a short amount of time in [[Kartakass]]. [[Rudolph van Richten]] discovered proof of her existence in the city of [[Nartok]], after she had slain [[Tomas Tennemen]] and [[Helga Tennemen]]. Tomas had entered some sort of carefully worded contract with Elsepeth, dooming him and his wife.

Elsepeth enjoys trapping the souls of her victims within ceramic [[doll | dolls]], in which the victims are left aware and to suffer. She may be harvesting and collecting these souls so that when she returns to the [[Abyss]] she has something to show for her time in the [[Land of Mists]], however her escape from the grip of the [[Dark Powers]] is highly unlikely given her rather high [[corruption index]].

[[Elsepeth's phylactery]] is a small stuffed [[doll]].

Elsepeth's whereabouts are currently unknown.

==Abilities==

Out of all the known demons roaming Ravenloft, Elsepeth is one of the most corrupted by the land. In addition to all the powers inherent to succubi, she also has the ability to perform a ''banshee's wail'', a ''siren's song'', and use the spell-like ability of ''forget''. She has the power to tempt or outright slay her victims, but on occasion she will enter in a binding contract with the unfortunate soul. Her reality wrinkle is 100 yards in diameter.

The Black Duke

The Black Duke was the leader of a militant [[cult]], the [[Brothers of the Whip]], which terrorised the [[Ehrendton]] in northeastern [[Nova Vaasa]] between [[684 BC]] and [[685 BC]], razing the village of [[Drataan]] in particular. He is also popularly known as "The Beast of Ehrendton", thanks to the ''[[The Beast of Ehrendton]]'' penned by [[Sir Armand Ironhand]] in [[695 BC]].<ref name="Ravenloft Gazetteer V, p42">[[Ravenloft Gazetteer V]], p42.</ref> In 685 Armand Ironhand and five other young, valorous knights were dispatched by [[Prince Rivtoff]] to stop the Black Duke. They failed. Ironhand was one of two survivors, spared to spread word of the Black Duke's dark deeds.

The monstrous man's goal was the conquest of Nova Vaasa. Yet he chose volontarily to walk away from this project and hasn't been seen since. His followers were rounded up and [[executed]]. It is speculated that his base of operations was actually in [[Arak]], which is to say [[Darkon]] post [[Great Upheaval]].

[[Dr. Rudolph van Richten]] identified the Black Duke as a [[fiend]] in ''[[Van Richten's Guide to Demons]]''. A [[Brother Micah]], of the [[Order of Tramalaine]], [[called]] the creature into the [[Land of the Mists]]. The Black Duke escaped his control, destroying him and his [[laboratory]]. Would-be cultists spouting heresy to the effect that the Black Duke is an avatar of [[the Lawgiver]] are arrested, [[tortured]], and [[executed]] from time to time.

684 The misguided [[Brother Micah]], of the [[Order of Tramalaine]], summons the fiendish Black Duke into Ravenloft. Micah fails to control the [[fiend]]; he and his laboratory are destroyed, and the fiend disappears, unseen by living eyes. [VRGtF pg. 25]

684 The Black Duke starts organizing a militant cult, [[the Brothers of the Whip]], in the extreme north-eastern corner of the new domain of Nova Vaasa, a region known as Ehrendton. The Black Duke’s actual headquarters may have been located in [[Arak]]. The Black Duke’s goal is nothing less than the conquest of Nova Vaasa! [VRGtF: 62 indicates a date of roughly 541. Sadly, this places the event some 140 years before the creation of the domain it takes place in, and I don’t like using false history when it comes to fiends. Thus, this date is simply a compromise, placed near the creation of Nova Vaasa.]

685 After the Nova Vaasan [[village]] of [[Drataan]] is [[razed]], [[Prince Rivtoff]] sends six young, valorous knights to stop the Black Duke. Their leader is [[Sir Armand Ironhand]]. The knights reach the Black Duke’s lair and confront him; the Duke reveals himself to be an inhuman fiend, which immediately sets about destroying the naïve do-gooders. Only Sir Armand and a companion, [[Jess d’Lurien]] (a name which does not sound Nova Vaasan to my ear) survive; the Duke spares them so that they can spread the tale of his terrible deeds. Interestingly, the Duke abandons his campaign to invade Nova Vaasa, and the Brothers of the Whip are all eventually rounded up and [[executed]]. To date, the Black Duke has not been encountered again; it was last seen walking away in the darkness, laughing to itself. [VRGtF: See “684: The Black Duke.”]

695 Sir Armand Ironhand authors ''[[The Beast of Ehrendton]], a tragic saga''. Although the account is based on his encounter with the Black Duke, the outlandish (and nightmarish) story is taken by most as fiction—and becomes fairly popular! [Speculation based on VRGtF pg. 36: The book was written “years after the fact,” and Sir Armand’s grandson is an adult contemporary of Van Richten in 741.]

The [[Verduous Lands | Verduous Lands cluster]] does not have a [[moon]] with potentially interesting consequences for [[lycanthropes]] having some part of the [[lunar cycle]] as their trigger condition. Equally, there should be no [[tide|tides]].

==Biology==
Sri Raji is primarily rainforest, and as such contains a rich assortment of tropical plant and animal life. Common threats include tigers and carnivorous plants, such as tri-color fronds.

==Population==
Most of the human inhabitants of Sri Raji congregate in three cities, each located surprisingly close to the domain border. A fourth city, [[Mahakala]], is less populated and commonly referred to as "accursed".

==Authority==
[[Maharaja Arijani]] is the ruler of this domain, although his power is contested by [[The Stalkers]].
