The disappearance of his betrothed, [[Lela]] filled him with great anxiety. He assumed that Lela has run off with [[Hanzi]], a [[mortu]] that had been tried to seduce her.<ref>[[The Seer]] p. 9-10</ref> The truth is far worse, she was enthralled by a [[vampire]] and turned into a [[vampire spawn]].<ref> p. 7</ref>
