Prior to [[611 BC]], the town of [[Kryoso]] was the largest community in the [[Principality of Sanguinia]], largely due to its proximity to [[Castle Guirgiu]].<ref name="QtR30_p92">[[Quoth the Raven Issue 30]], p.92</ref>

During the years of the [[Gray Plague]] and the extended winter which followed, [[Prince Ladislav Mircea]] retreated into his castle, leaving the rest of Sanguinia to fend for itself.  Under the capable leadership of [[Alexandru Uzun]], Kryoso endured.  Therefore, when Prince Mircea eventually sent out an invitation demanding that the young noble men and woman of Kryoso be sent to [[Castle Guirgiu]] for a gala, the nobles of Kryoso were disinclined to heed the prince's whims.  In retaliation, Prince Mircea sent his [[Ash Men]] to raze the town.<ref name="QtR30_p92" />

Kryoso is now a [[ruins|ruin]].  It is also a Rank 3 [[Sinkhole of Evil]] with a [[Taint of Despair]],<ref name="QtR30_p92" /> haunted by the ghost of [[Alexandru Uzun]].<ref name="QtR30_p89">[[Quoth the Raven Issue 30]], p.89</ref>
