			A shadow mastiff is a malicious [[outsider]] having the size and shape of a particularly big [[dog]] with sleek black [[fur]] and a large maw lined with sharp [[teeth]]. They hail from the [[Plane of Shadow]]. Though [[evil]] aligned outsiders, shadow mastiffs do not have the [[Evil Subtype]]<ref name="Monster Manual 3.5 p. 222">[[Monster Manual (3.5)]] p. 222</ref> and therefore do not have reality wrinkles if encountered in the [[Demiplane of Dread]].

			Shadow mastiffs are skilled predators that prefer to hunt and attack under the cover of darkness or shadow, for they can become fully [[concealed]] in any [[light]]ing condition save for total [[daylight]]. The baying of a shadow mastiff can causing panic in anybody who hears the howl, even from several hundred feet away.<ref name="Monster Manual 3.5 p. 222">[[Monster Manual (3.5)]] p. 222</ref>
