After Ferdous' machinations led to the accidental death of [[Emir]] [[Talaal el-Khatib]], Haanifa al-Burki led the movement to replace Ferdous with Behrouz. Once Behrouz was sheikh, Haanifa ensured that Ferdous quietly disappeared. She is not necessarily an evil woman, just coldly pragmatic. After all, killing the emir of [[Ibraq]] is likely to draw the attention of the [[Herald of Night]], and his retribution would affect more than merely the sheikh.<ref name="QtR30_p322" /><br />
