Margaret Landsdale was on her homeworld a famous [[hero]] and a skilled [[alchemist]] and [[transmuter]]. Beyond being an [[adventurer]], she was also an [[arcane researcher]]. She performed an experiment on her [[cat]] [[familiar]] [[Jinx]] to boost his [[intelligence]]. This would prove to lay the foundation for her downfall, as Jinx's increased intelligence allowed him to feel [[lonely]] during her periods of absence and alienated by her perceived disregard for his life. When Margaret fell in love with a [[fighter]] comrade-in-arms, Jinx became [[bitter]]ly [[jealous]] and ultimately [[manipulated]] Margaret's lover into a trap where he was [[murdered]] by enemy [[barbarian]]s. Instead of becoming closer to the cat, Margaret became fatalistic and began research on a terrible [[earthquake]] [[potion]] to wipe out the enemy hordes.
