However, [[Baron Bakholis]] also was infatuated with her, and he sought to claim her as his own. For their refusal of Bahkolis' wishes, he had Karlus [[maimed]] and [[eaten]] in front of Marta's eyes as several of his [[soldier]]s violated her. Before Bakholis killed Marta, she [[cursed]] him.
