Although Van Helsing [[killed]] DeLeo and escaped, he was soon overwhelmed by more of DeLeo's kindred. [[Kidnapped]] and taken to their lair, Van Helsing used [[magic]] to escape his bonds and free another [[prisoner]], [[Pierce Decker]]. Together they escaped the [[lair]] of the illithid along with a book that held their [[history]].
