Although the [[manor]] is officially called [[Wyldecote]], the [[house]] of [[Prince Prospero]] is popularly referred to as [[Prospero Hall]].<ref name=RDp.4>[[Red Death (Adventure)]] p.4</ref> Prospero Hall, through its connection to its [[unaging]] prince is [[cursed]], existing as a trap for the unwary who attend Prospero's masquerade balls. As [[Dracula]] cursed his bitter rival Prospero, [[the Red Death]] took his [[curse]] and embedded its malevolent energies within the [[ebony clock]]. When the clock deems it, all within Prospero Hall are struck down by [[the red death plague]]. The prince and his [[servant]] are also afflicted, but only for a short time and never perish. They care cursed to witness the same vent over and over again.<ref name=RDp.7>Red Death (Adventure) p.7</ref>

Those whom die within the Hall become [[ghost]]s, eternally trapped within the prison. Prospero, though still "living", is bound to the grounds of the manor. He may not be absent for a time greater than half a day, else his servants will contract the plague.<ref name=RDp.7>Red Death (Adventure) p.7</ref>
