Commander Pierre Willis led the conquest of the County of Staunton by the Duchy of Avergne. He was greatly assisted in this by the treachery of Sir Torrence Bleysmith, who delivered Sir August Bleysmith into a careful prepared ambush. Willis repaid the traitor by breaking the agreement that they had struck. It is unclear whether Willis survived the revenge that Torrence attempted. The hamlet of Willisford and the Willis River are named in his honour.
