A dread possibility establishing a connection between Mordent and the shadow fey. This dread possibility gives one possible reason for the disappearance of the Scottmatter Family: their imprisonment inside of the Scottmatter Family Portrait due to magic of Lord Sithington Gray. In this dread possibility, Lord Gray is a powerful noble of the Arak, wreaking vengeance upon the family due to Lady Margaret Scottmatter inadvertently offending Lord Gray by creating a painting of his lair.[1]
In this dread possibility, Lady Margaret escapes direct imprisonment and torture by Lord Gray by committing suicide, only to imprison herself as a spirit in the other paintings of the Scottmatter home.[2]
