The Kingdom of Firfair[1] is the birthplace of Forfarian cultural identity. Indeed, its founding is what marks the first year of the Forfarian Calendar. In the wake of the repulsion of the Blars and the casualties it caused, Caral Firfair convinced the other highland clan leaders to unite under one authority as one people. They unanimously agreed, and Caral was made King of the kingdom.
The self-government of the Kingdom of Firfair lasted several generations until the Invasion of the Merionites. Unlike the Blars before them, the Merionite were successful conquerors and dominated Firfair long enough to leave their mark on Firfairian language and culture. (Their pronunciation of Firfairian as Forfarian is what is used today.
Like the Blancs before them, the Merionites were eventually overthrown in the liberation of Firfair on the year of 952 on the Forfarian Calendar. However, the years of foreign rule had removed a proper claimant to the throne of the Kingdom. Rather than face civil war, the kingdom broke apart into several independent baronies, including the Barony of Forfar.
