The Black Chapel lies beneath the Veidrava Salt Mine and is reputed to be older than it.[1] The Chapel and the salt shadow that were said to infest it were the stuff of legend and myth to the miners of Veidrava Salt Mines. However, the truth of its existence and its infestation with salt shadows was all too real. Ogier and Kern discovered this too late when "Ambrose" lured them into a salt shadow ambush.[2]
The chapel is where Azrael Dak performed the ritual that caused the Hour of Screaming Shadows when it was interrupted by Ganelon.[3] When "S" went to visit the Mine and its contents below, she was warned away by the Wanderers.[4]
The chapel is highly decorated even though everything in it is made from salt. However, all the decoration has been warped and corrupted since then into gruesome mockeries of what they once were.[5]
