In truth, the Beast is the unfortunate [[giomorgo]] ("half-vistani" offspring of a [[Vistani]] mother and the [[incubus]] known only as the [[Gentleman Caller]]. Unlike the rest of the [[Children of the Gentleman Caller]], the Beast is not human-looking like on the outside but evil on the inside. Instead, the Beast represents an inversion, monstrous and inhuman on the outside but a good person on the inside. The Beast suffers from a crippling lack of self-esteem, a flaw inherited from her mother.
