Rosavalda "Rose" Durst is a child ghost of benign nature trapped in the children's room (area 20) of Death House (Location), along with his sister Thornboldt "Thorn" Durst.[1]
History
Rose and her brother Thorn were two innocent children of Gustav Durst and Elizabeth Durst, two mad leaders of a misbegotten cult devoted to Strahd. Rose and Thorn died of starvation after their parents locked them in the attic and forgot about them. Strahd cared little for the cult's devotion and eventually descended upon them, killing them all inside Death House, leaving the place a wretched den of evil and a haunted house. Thorn and Rose linger on with untainted innocence but trapped in the children's room until their bodies are properly taken care of (located in area 23 E and F).[2]
Death House Illusions
Death House can create illusions of Rose and Thorn as they appeared in life (10 for Rose and 7 for Thorn), but these are not the actual spirits of Rose and Thorn. They are mere fabrications of the House to lure in unsuspecting prey.[3]
