Ixitxachitls are Chaotic Evil aquatic creatures that resemble manta rays in form if not temperament. From their maze-like fortresses of hollowed out coral, ixitxachitls set forth, attacking all intruders on "their" turf. Ixitxachitls will readily overhunt and overfeed on the local plant and animal life until nothing is left before moving on to greener pastures. Given the chance, ixitxachitls will make slaves of any creature they can subjugate and keep alive in their environment, which is usually warm aquatic.[1]

Most ixitxachitls have no special abilities other than biting, but they attack in large numbers, are fairly clever tacticians, and can advance in character classes. The vampiric ixitxachitls represents a special case, for they can inflict energy drain and heal wounds rapidly, much like a vampire. However, vampiric ixitxachitl are neither undead nor vampires and have none of the immunities or weaknesses of either.[1]

Noncanon Information

Ixitxachitls can be encountered throughout the Nocturnal Sea[2] including the Drowning Deep.[3]
