In the theology of the Church of Ezra, the Legions of the Night represent the evil of the world that came from the Mists of Death. and the enemies that Ezra had to protect humanity from. As she aged, Ezra looked for a successor to protect her people from the Legions but could not find one. This motivated her to give her life over to the Mists, such that she could watch over her people forever.[1]
The theology of the Nevuchar Springs Sect places particular emphasis on this theological concept, for in their apocalyptic prophecy the Legions will flood across the lands at the Time of Unparalleled Darkness. The Legions will seek to wipe out or corrupt Ezra's faithful. In order to defend them, doctrine holds that the forces believed to represent the Legions of Night must be stamped out.[2]
