Gard was the cudgel of Kulchek the Wanderer, a fabled Vistani hero. Supposedly, it was carved from a tree at the top of the world using Kulchek's dagger Novgor, which was the only thing sharp enough to cut this wood. It was last wielded by Magda the Wanderer. It was sabotaged by her daughter Inza, as Inza damaged it using Novgor, the dagger used to make the club. As a result, the club shattered in Magda's hands, resulting in Magda's death.
