Tasked to destroy the Vampire Velkaarn.[1] Also known as the Bane of the Ancients by vampires, this dagger detects any such being within 500 ft. by throbbing. Should the Diamond of the Sun be returned to its notch within the Bloodknife, the dagger can produce a sunburst spell thrice per day with the dagger as the focal point.[2]
When wielded by a character of Good alignment, it can destroy vampires with a single strike. When a Good character first takes possession of the object, a wolf is made intelligent (as per an awaken spell) and joins with the possessor as a friend and companion. In the hands of an Evil character, it can be used to take in the souls of the Living and strengthen the wielder.[2]
The Bloodknife is the subject of much myth and legend, including a prophecy in the Ancient Tales of the Vistani.[2]
