the Lurker[1] is a Greater Fihyr confined in a mystical prison beneath the Hoftmann Hospital of Lamordia. Once an emissary of the fiend Malgorboth that was sent centuries ago to aid a cult in Malgorboth's name, it was subsequently imprisoned in underground caves by goodly clerics after the cult was wiped out. Hundreds of years passed, and the Lurker became forgotten and existed in a semi-dormant state. The cult's former lands were taken to form part of Lamordia when the domain formed in 683 BC. In 695 BC, the horrors of the Winter War awoke the Lurker. The establishment of the Hoftman Hospital in 695 BC provided it with a set of victims to torment and feed of off with its Emotion Control ability. (As a Greater Fihyr, the Lurker is a psychic parasite that feeds off fear.)
The Lurker currently whispers dark temptations to the hospital's caretaker Otto Krieger as it grows stronger from the fear and torment it causes the patients horrible nightmares, increasing their emotional suffering. Someday soon it might break the magical prison that confines it.
