The Path of the Cold One is the Path of Corruption followed by the Krynnish Red-Robed Wizard Traven.

  • 1. Frostmarked: Traven gains Cold Resistance 10.
    • Traven's skin has become chalk white, giving him OR +1.
  • 2. Winter's Embrace: Traven's skin is constantly covered in scabs of self-replenishing ice, which grants him a +2 natural armour bonus.
    • Traven's appearance has become decidedly unnatural, giving him an additional OR +1.
  • 3. Frostwalker: Traven can move at full speed over nonmagical ice and through nonmagical snow as though these were normal, even ground.
    • Traven now leaves a dusting of snow wherever he goes, and his footprints are outlined by ice. He gains an additional OR +1.
  • 4. Touch of Frost: Twice a day, Traven can use a variant version of Vampiric touch as a spell-like ability, with his effective character level as his caster level. The save DC is determined by his Charisma score. Instead of negative energy damage, this spell-like ability deals cold damage.
    • Traven has become more susceptible to Fire damage. If he suffers fire-based damage in one round, he suffers half the same amount again in the following round. He may roll any applicable saving throws to reduce damage as normal.
  • 5. Winter Wizard: (current stage) Twice a day, Traven can use Ice storm as a spell-like ability. His caster level equals his effective character level, and the save DC is determined by his Charisma score.
    • If Traven now uses spells that cause Fire-based damage, he suffers backlash. Every time Traven casts a spell or uses a spell trigger item that deals Fire-based damage, he suffers half the damage dealt by his attack himself, even if his target or targets manage to avoid damage. Traven may roll saving throws to reduce damage as normal, but suffers half the final amount again in the next round, as outlined under step 4.
  • 6. Heart of Ice: Traven is now completely immune to Cold damage and cold effects. His physical aging stops completely from this point onward, and his physical ability scores can not be altered by any magical or psionic effect.
    • Traven may no longer increase his physical ability scores, neither by magic nor by levelling up. He requires twice the amount of XP to increase his character level that a normal person would. He must pass a Fear save to approach open flames or else flee, panicked.
