Mae Upton was the mother of Jimmy Upton[1] and a resident of Stangengrad[2]. They made their living as thieves. In order to secure a good fortune for herself and her son, she manipulated him into stealing Reston's Folly from Fennelstock, telling Jimmy that Fennelstock had actually stolen it from her. Jimmy succumbed to the curse of Reston's Folly, rendering him incorporeal.[3] Mae died before a cure could be found, but she rose again as a ghost, hoping to manipulate some passers by into helping her son.[2]
Given that the success of the Fennelstock & Upton business in Stangengrad[4], 
tt would appear that Fennelstock and Jimmy had reached a point of reconciliation and Reston's Folly was successfully removed. If so, then Mae Upton is truly able to rest in peace.
