Forenoon Abbey was once the sacred home of pious scholars located in the Great Kingdom. Most of the monastics in this order venerated Belenus, although Lysander Greylocks, recently arrived at the end of the Heretical Wars, was a servant of Brigit. Shortly before he orchestrated the death of Lady Kateri Shadowborn, Ebonbane order his Altrian ghoul minions to infiltrate the Abbey. There, they massacred the monastics down to the last person. Subsequently reanimated as ghouls, the monastics became servants of Ebonbane.[1] Eventually, Forenoon Abbey was drawn into the Mists, specifically the Phantasmal Forest surrounding Shadowborn Manor.[2]
In 626 BC[3] following their entrance into the Demiplane of Dread, Alexi Shadowborn and his friends reached Forenoon Abbey and confronted the Ahltrian and the ghoulish remnants of the monks. The Ghoul Lord and the Vapir, two of the three Dark Triad, were destroyed along with their minions, leaving the place seemingly empty before Alexi and company moved on to Shadowborn Manor proper.[4]
Description
The stained glass windows of the monastery have been broken, and the bell of the bell tower has been removed, the latter desecration quite obvious.[5] When Alexi and company visited it, torches held in sconces lit the hallways, but the place reeked with the stench of death. In the central room of worship, the altar was surrounded by radiating circles of pews.[6]
