Native to the world of Toril, Shadow Adepts are spellcasters who plunged freely into the magical abyss that was the Shadow Weave[1]. Many but not all were worshippers of the Evil goddess Shar[2], who created the Shadow Weave in times immemorial.

For their temerity, Shadow Adepts received great boons, including defensive powers drawn from the dark, the ability to create a temporary double of themselves, and access to all Shadow Weave-related metamagic feats.

In order to qualify for this prestige class, all Shadow Adepts must be of non-Good alignment. They could be either arcane spellcasters or divine spellcasters.
