The Ewigkind (plural Ewigkinder) is a type of vampire native to the domain of Madego. Only Chi-Folken can be infected with this particular strain of vampirism, and Chi-Folken can only become Ewigkinder-type vampires; larger vampires would cripple or destroy their tiny bodies if they tried to transform Chi-Folken into their minions.

Rather than fear them, Chi-Folken detest Ewigkinder and are likely to react with aggression when they discover Ewigkinder in their midst. Their loathing may be explained by the fact that Chi-Folken reproduce by, among other things, sharing blood. Ewigkinder reproduce by having two Ewigkinder variously draining a subject of its own blood and infusing it with their own - by Chi-Folken standards, a grotesque mockery of the process by which they create their own offspring. In addition, Ewigkinder constantly seek to steal the blood of others to perpetuate their own existence, further profaning what is to Chi-Folken a sacred process of sharing to create new life.

Unlike other vampires, Ewigkinder can transform into stirges, a mosquito swarm, or a volume of mud. When feeding on a victim, they do so by extruding a proboscis tongue and stinging the victim. Ewigkinder can swim and cross running water without difficulty, and may enter a home uninvited - but may then not attack anyone inside unless they are attacked first. In addition to an aversion to sunlight, garlic and wild roses, Ewigkinder have an allergic response to the colours yellow and green when combined. This means they are innately repulsed by the robes of the priesthood of Lupta, and themselves wear variant green-and-brown robes if they wish to enter the clergy.

Those who wish to permanently kill an Ewigkind must first stab a glass stake through its heart to immobilize it. Once the Ewigkind is thus disabled, its head must be severed from the neck, and molten glass must be poured into its body cavity.
