The Breaking[1] is the third epoch of the Vaasi Timeline, following the Ranging and preceding the Saddling, begins with the death of Eternal King Zaanji Højplads. Because he chose to make Kantora the capital of his empire so far away from its heart, the empire began to crumble following his passing. but ends with his demise and the Breaking, as his empire begins to dissolve. The various conquered lands, and even Old Vaasa itself, rebelled against the Five Families until Nova Vaasa itself was the only land remaining in what was once King Zaanji's empire.
