Genspejle

The Genspejle ("Mirror River") races down into Nova Vaasa from the Howling Hills of Barovia. It turns south through the Graenseskov ("Borderwood") and by the time it crosses into Hazlan, its descent has levelled to the point that its mirror-like surface is nigh undisturbed by a ripple. Its eastern bank is frequented by painters eager to catch in its waters the reflection of the sun sinking beneath the Balinoks. The Saniset River is joined from the north by the Genspejle in Sly-Var. The Saniset then holds true to its east by southeast course as it flows gently to the Nocturnal Sea.

Navigation from Sly-Var up the Genspejle and across the Ensommark to the northern frontier would make sense. Beyond that navigation would become increasingly difficult. In Sly-Var the Genspejle is crossed by the Iron Road before the river joins the Saniset. There must be a bridge or a ferry that can handle wagons. If a bridge, river traffic between the Genspejle and the Saniset could be harmed.

The Saniset is a critical source of water for crops, humans, domestic animals, and wild animals. Its water is in fact celebrated for its purity (presumably near or at the frontier with Nova Vaasa). There should be a band of farmland for water intense crops stretching back from the banks of the river from Sly-Var across entire the Ensommark ("Lonely Plain") and nearly to the border with Nova Vaasa for there the Graenseskov ("Borderwood") begins in earnest.
