Natural historians practice natural history which is the description, as opposed to analysis, of nature. Whereas natural philosophers practice natural philosophy which is the analysis, as opposed to the description, of nature. Natural philosophers are precursors of biologists and geologists who only begin to emerge in their own right subsequent to Renaissance age cultures.
