In the Land of Mists, a fiend can employ power rituals to siphon away a shred of a darklord's ability to control his domain. These can grant special land-based powers (the power varyring with the domain the ritual takes place in). However, these powers come at a cost. With every power ritual, a fiend's reality wrinkle shrinks, and its Corruption Index increases. The latter affects the fiend's ability to return to its hom on the Lower Planes.[1]
