The Échansons ("the Cupbearers") are an Ezrite heretical group that believe that Ezra did not merge with the Mists as is taught by the orthodox Church of Ezra. Rather, they maintain that Ezra instead made herself mortal, thus bestowing the gift of divinity to all who believe in her. In this belief, Ezra produced children which then went out to create several lineages of protectors of mankind. The Cupbearers seek to discover these lineages, and highly suspect the noble families of Richemulot are among these descendants of Ezra. The Cupbearers primarily reside in the House of the Sages.[1]
