For the catastrophes and malicious tricks he caused the world, Coyote was abandoned by the rest of the gods and had his cloak of stars taken from him. Left as finite and killable, he was taken by the Dark Powers and made into the darklord of Yatehcaa.[1]
Coyote is an eternal trickster, but his "jokes" are overwhelmingly often works of disaster and malignancy. He is an expert manipulator, playing the Yateh people against each other and even causing many blood feuds. He is said to have stolen the words of creation from the gods and taught them to humankind, creating the first wizards. It is because humanity accepted Coyote's "gifts" that they are imprisoned here with him.[2]
Despite his mischief and what remaining godly power he haas left, Coyote is a certified coward. He lives in terror that his life will be taken from him now that his cloak of stars and the intervention of the gods have been lost.[2]
