Morkoths are evil aquatic aberrations known for their malice and brutality. The bottom half of a morkoth appears like a fish of the deep ocean whereas the bottom half appears as an octopus. Mostly solitary, they dwell in labyrinthine tunnel networks. Although physically weak, morkoth can hypnotize creatures passing by its lair, forcing them to enter, navigate the maze, and then helplessly wait to be eaten. Defensively, a morkoth's spell resistance can fling spells targeting it back at its foes.[1]

A colony of morkoths were living in underwater chambers within Azalin's Crypt Lair during the final events of the Grand Conjunction. They served at the back and call of both Azalin and Balipur[2].

Noncanon Information

A colony of morkoth can be found in the Sea of Sorrows to the north of Blaustein[3] and can generally be encountered throughout the Sea of Sorrows.[4] Morkoth can also be encountered in the Drowning Deep[5] where they can serve as favored servants of Virundus. Morkoths do not need to be born that way; Virundus can transform creatures whom please him into morkoths, which place them outside the normal caste structure of Shay-lot.[6]
