Deir is a forgotten city in the northern most deserts of Har'Akir. It was once a flowering jewel of the Akiri culture where Anhktepot ruled; it housed the tomb builders who constructed Pharaoh's Rest. Yet as Anhktepot sank into depravity, disaster washed over the Akiri lands. Inanamen, a leader in the Cult of Set and treacherous advisor to the corrupt pharaoh, had sewn corruption from the city, so it was not spared. The few who did not flee the city or perish dug underground, and Set transformed his people into reptilian, snake-like humanoids. The city itself is barren of life, haunted by tormented spirits called the butu. Life still exists beneath the surface. Down beneath the Catacombs of Deir el Medina, there exists the Temple of Set, a spiraling construction that holds the living quarters of the serpent folk, a reptile pit, and eventually the Well of Souls.[1]
