Mere des Larmes ("Sainted Mother of Tears") in Port-a-Lucine.[1], the Dementlieuse Sect of the Church of Ezra hold a mystical understanding of their goddess. Referred to as the Erudites[2] and mostly Neutral in alignment, most of this sect's anchorites partake in scholarly study of Ezra for the majority of their time.[3][4] The Ste. Mere des Larmes and its texts hold particular interest for the Erudites, for they believe these ancient relics to hold knowledge lost for hundreds of years. Numerology, particularly concerning the repeated appearances of the number 5 in holy scripture, has also gathered great interests from the Erudites.[1]

The predominant alignment for the Dementlieuse sect is True Neutral, and clerics of this sect mostly take Mists and the Protection spell-domains, though these are represent the most common selections and not requirements for anchorites who belong to the sect.[6]
History
The Dementlieuse Sect's origins lie with a discovery made by sect founder and its first bastion Joan Secousse. In 709 BC, while exploring Port-a-Lucine, she discovered the abandoned Ste. Mere des Larmes cathedral. It proved to be an ancient temple of Ezra. Based upon teachings recovered from its vaults, she penned in 709 BC the Third Book of Ezra and became the bastion of the Dementlieuse Sect.[7]
