The Royal Sword of Lilliend is an artefact-level weapon.
Composition
The sword is composed of two parts:
- The Silver; the ancestral blade of the Lockstone and Churnstone families of Lilliend. When dormant, the Silver is a masterwork silver longsword, kept by the Lockstones 'against the Evil that might follow'. If quickened with the blood of members of two of Lilliend's noble families, the Silver becomes a +2 holy silver longsword. So long as the one wielding the quickened blade has an unobstructed line of view on Lilliend's greatest enemy, that enemy's extraordinary, spell-like and supernatural abilities are completely suppressed.
- The Lenkherr Ruby; a magical gemstone either won or stolen by the Lenkherr family of Lilliend from the Weisücher family. In its dormant state, the Ruby is 'merely' a priceless jewel. If quickened with blood of members of two of Lilliend's noble families, the Ruby will grant its wielder knowledge of the true name, current appearance and location of Lilliend's greatest enemy.
Current sketch
The Silver and the Ruby have been united into one blade, which has been adopted as the royal blade by the ruling Lenkherr family. It is currently wielded by the Queen of Lilliend, Alexandra. Both Silver and Ruby are quickened and kept active by the efforts of two ghosts, one of Lockstone and one of Lenkherr, who quickened them in life. By the power of the Ruby, Queen Alexandra knows the true identity of Darklady Camille Churnstone as Lilliend's greatest enemy. By the Silver, she stands a better chance of killing the first Lilliender vampire than anyone else -- but she is afraid to act alone. If only she could find capable support somewhere, to help her fight Camille, who is still a powerful Sorceress if deprived of the benefits of her undead state...
