Along with Mr. Kantall, Mr. Gar was a scoundrel hired by the master thief Master Currin Klein de l’Ombre to obtain the most valued possession of Lord Theone, though neither Mr. Gar nor Mr. Kantall knew exactly what that was.
Possibly this was a precaution by Currin to prevent the two mercenaries from stealing the treasure and abandoning him. Mr. Gar and Mr. Kantall pretended to be the partners of Master Currin, who was known as an expert merchant and collector of magical and esoteric antiquities. Despite the group's use of this ruse, Mr. Gar tended to favor brutish and horrible methods in achieving goals.[1]
