First introduced in the Quoth the Raven Issue 29 article Secrets of Shadow, Un-Fire is a form of energy used extensively by the Centurions of the Night.
Un-Fire is described as a self-replenishing energy, eternally devouring itself and regenerating off the power it consumes. In this, it could be described as a perpetuum mobile. The energy is further described as being sealed in an unimaginable void, somewhere in the depths of the Mists.
The possibility is suggested that Un-Fire is somehow sentient, though not in any way a mortal could understand, and that it has in fact been imprisoned by the Dark Powers for unspecified sins.
- Members of the Centurion of the Night prestige class are noted to be able to channel Un-Fire from the void by sacrifing spells, spell slots or psionic power points.
- Likewise, members of the Viejo Sagrado prestige class are capable of generating Un-Fire, but only by sacrificing energy from their signature Teacher's cane-implements, giving them far less potential to use the power.
When Un-Fire appears outside its void, it manifests as a wispy blue flame that 'wails like the voices of the damned' and consumes all types of matter, dealing cursed damage that can only be undone on holy or unholy ground, and may force those it kills to immediately manifest as ghosts.
