Incapacitation is the elimination of the possibility of being able to cope with difficult circumstances. At best, someone who is incapacitated may be saved from the situation by another. Being incapacitated is more serious than being impaired but may be less serious than being helpless. The incapitation must not be volontary, but it may be either temporarily or permanently. Both an individual who is blinded and an individual who is inebriated to the point the he or she cannot get up are incapacitated. Equally, an indivdual who is paralysed, unconscious, or dead is incapacitated. The Skurra are mute, but they are not incapacitated, retaining the capacity, but not the intention, to speak.
