Eternal King Zaanzi Højplads[1] is the person recognized in the Vaasi Timeline as bringing together the Gammel Vaasi during the Unification (of the Vaasi) following his first rise to power among the Bolshnik clan. The bringing together of the Five Vaasi Clans marks the beginning of the Vaasi Timeline and the Ranging and the ending of the Grazing. He also was instrumental in bringing victory over Daamark, appealing to the Lawgiver for help in conquest. The Lawgiver responded by opening a rift to the Hell of Slaves, unleashing the monsters there upon the resisters among the people of Daamark. King Zaanji instituted the practice of punishment against the conquered according to the amount they resisted.
Of the lands Eternal King Zaanji Højplads bested, Tygaam was his favorite, and he made the city of Kantora his new capital, Nyvalg Vaasa (“Newly Chosen Vaasa”). However, establishing the city so far on the frontier of his empire proved an unfortunate choice. This decision led to the breaking apart of his empire in an epoch known, appropriately enough, as the Breaking. Although his established Ordained Cycle of Stewardship held Nova Vaasa together, the rest of the Vaasan empire, even Old Vaasa itself, broke away.
Under the rule of Prince Gorkyn Vistin, Zaanji was canonized as a saint, thereby increasing the pride the Nova Vaasans felt in their history.
