Meat is flesh taken from a carcass. It may be consumed straight away, right off the carcass itself, by natural predators. Humans and their like generally eat their meat only after the flesh has been butchered from the carcass and cooked. Meat is prepared for cooking by a butcher or by a hunter or a cook serving in this capacity.
