Vlad was once a rival of [[Prince Prospero]] before the former became a [[vampire]]. Prospero sought to win the hand of [[Frytha]], a [[servant]] of the Dracula household. After Prospero achieved a narrow victory over Tepes in a sparring match, Vlad brutally attacked her. Midway through the attack, Prospero came across them and, incited with rage, lunged at Tepes with his [[polearm]]. Unfortunately, Tepes avoided the blow, deflecting it to strike Frytha. She survived, but Prospero's errant blow badly [[scarred]] her. The whole event also drove her [[mad]]. Prospero [[married]] her and cared for her the rest of her existence, which lasted some 3 decades.<ref name=RDp.5>[[Red Death (Adventure)]] p.5</ref>

Hearing the crises of the dying Vlad Tepes, the Red Death came to the former Wallachian prince at his death and reanimated him as a vampire. Since then, Dracula has been one of the Red Death's top servants.[1][2] He is rated as a lord level on the hierarchy of the Red Death's servants.[3]

Vlad Tepes has had three notable defeats in recent years, though always at a high cost in blood. Two were at the hands of Die Wächtern, once in his native land of Transylvania in his first encounter with the qabal and another in England when he struck back at them.[4] More recently, he was defeated in San Francisco where he was trying to form a new qabal under his leadership.[5]

Background in Red Death
