Gaston is one Xavier D'Arcey's friends and adventuring companions who survived their horrible marikith hunt.[1]

Xavier and Gaston returned to Richemulot, where Xavier fell into a deep depression. Gaston pushed Xavier into writing again, and Gaston procured the publication of Xavier's work. This in turn lifted Xavier's spirits and made him feel human again. Xavier has become something of a locally well-known, if mysterious personality of literature.[2]
