Dr. Charles Witherspoon takes residence in a well-off house on Beacon Street in Boston. James, his butler. attends the premises.[1] Unknown to both of them, the house (or more specifically, the sitting room that holds Jeanne's ashen remains) serves as the lair for the spirit of Jeanne Witherspoon.[2]
