Sheriff von Zarovich is the General of the Ebon Gargoyle and thus one of Strahd's chief enforcers.[1]
Sheriff von Zarovich was made chief lawman and emissary of Strahd in the year after the Fall of Kings. Although the sheriff's is very well known for his unforgiving and tyrannical nature, his origins are largely a mystery- he may be simply a very cruel and skilled commoner, or he may actually be a member of the von Zarovich family.[2]
Sheriff von Zarovich carries Herd-Culler, a magic scythe. He rides Sadis Nocturne, a dread nightmare.[3]
