Located in Armeikos on the banks of the Hordum River, the University of Liffe's formal name is the College of Liffe. However, it is more popularly referred to as University. Beaten in music only by the Harmonic Hall, the College of Liffe is greatly known for its instruction in oratory, poetry, singing, and a number of stringed instruments. In the false history of Liffe, it was a monastery converted into an education facility in 697 BC. Over half a century later, other programs began to be added.^[1]

Now a modern, cosmopolitan school, the University nonetheless fosters a stoic, down-to-earth, and even pessimistic and melancholic atmosphere in its students and faculty, according to the description of Viktor Hazan. [Therefore, Dirgists are often drawn here.^[1]

Although encouraging its students not to get too riled up, there is still more than enough potential for conflict. In 756 BC, the admittance of nonhumans caused riots in the streets. During the riots, four students attempted a break-in of the office, but something killed them instead. (See the Filthy Lucre dread possibility for one possible cause.)^[2]

• 752 BC The College's School of Business opens.^[3]
• 753 BC The College's School of the Physical Sciences opens.^[3]
• 753 BC The College begins to enroll female students.^[3]
• 756 BC The college starts admitting nonhumans.^[3] In response, the Liffen Riots of 756 BC ensue. During the violence, four students are killed while breaking into the financial office. (See Filthy Lucre for details on this.)^[2]
