Jan Mikkelsen is one of the Umbra, the leaders of the Fraternity of Shadows. As the junior Umbra[1] (and having achieved the rank as of only 754 BC[2]), Jan Mikkelsen has had not had the time to build power as the other Umbra[1]

Jan is Valachani and the grandson of a human and elf marriage. His mixed heritage has thus left him with an unusually handsome appearance. Unfortunately, he is also very vain. Jan was educated at the College d'Art of Invidia, using funding he received by blackmailing his elven grandfather. Not discovering much in arcane knowledge, Jan drifted north to the University of Richemulot, where he came into contact with the Fraternity.[3]
