The powrie are one of the nine major Arak races.[1] On the whole, the powrie are sadistic, Chaotic Evil fey that partake in murder and torture for the sheer joy of it.[2] (So great is their enjoyment of spilling blood that they also known as redcaps due to their blood-soaked caps- although they should not be confused with the equally murderous sylvan fey of the same name). Despite their wanton love for pain and death, the powrie nonetheless never break the Law of Arak and murder their fellow Arak, with a single notable exception.

The powries' abilities for stealth and sabotage make them superb spies as well as professional murderers.[2] [[It should come as no surprise the powrie are part of the Unseelie Court. Princess Malinda is their current leader[3]. Their previous leader, Jozell, was blamed for the murder of Tristessa and thus punished with the great exile of the Shunning.[4]
