A character from the Death of a Darklord novel, Blaine Clairn was the twin brother of Elaine Cairn[1] and the adopted child of Jonathan Ambrose and Tereza Ambrose[2]. He was a mage-finder, partnered with Thordin and receiving orders from Jonathan.[3]
Background
Like his sister, Blaine had preternatural talents inexplicable by normal human capabilities. However, he was not a mage; his abilities were more of a sensitivity to the land and attunement with nature. He could also sense the life force of beings, or at least unnatural beings such as ghosts.[4] 
He may have been a ranger with some psychic abilities.
During the Zombie Plague of Cortton, Blaine was killed by zombies while trying to make sure Elain got away safely.[5] Marland Ashe attempted to corrupt Elaine by forcing her to resurrect her deceased brother, but she resisted his attempts[6]
