Mercator Melanchthon[1] is an astrologer and physician that operates in the Midnight Market. He seems to receive messages from the stars, allowing him certain powers of a seer with more accuracy and precision than what other astrologers produce.

History

Mercator Melanchthon was born into the Melanchthon, a group of Darkonian gentry presiding over a village near Nevuchar Springs and the same family that produced an earlier [[Mercator Melanchthon (Fraternity of Shadows Member), a skilled mage and one of the founding members of the Fraternity of Shadows. The younger Mercantor Melanchthon himself went on to become a mage, attending the University of Il Aluk prior to that city's transformation in Necropolis. While studying there, Mercantor sought easier sources of power.

In his search for power, Mercator became interested in astrology. After observing a strange occurrence through a telescope in the University's observatory, Mercator blacked out and eventually woke up covered in blood from his nose, eyes, and mouths. Soon thereafter he began to receive visions from the stars. Mercator's investigation into the nature and origins of these divination powers eventually took him to the Midnight Market, where he works as an astrologer and physician.
